Answer for Lucky 13 assignment!!

1) The problem solving techniques that you were teaching is first highlight the question that needs to be answered in the problem. Then make a simple sentence and creat a word ratio and finally answer it.
2)Haley has enlarged a 3" by 5" picture so that both the length and the width are tripled. By what number must the original area of the picture be multiplied to get the enlarged area?
The original area must be multiplied by_____.
1st multiply 3 by 5: 3 x 5 = 15 <----- area of the original picture
Since the sides are tripled multiply each of them by 3:
3 x 3 = 9
5 x 3 = 15
Multiply 9 by 15: 9 x 15 = 135
then divide the answer by the original area.
135 / 15 = 9
So now you will put it in the simple sentence.
The original area must be multiplied by 9.
